THINGS TO SEE AND DO IN THE SAUGATUCK/DOUGLAS AREA

Take a ½ or full day charter fishing trip – call Big Lake Outfitters 269-857-1360.

Want to go swimming? Visit the Douglas Beach (NC) or Oval Beach ($) to swim in Lake Michigan, or just stroll along the shoreline. <map>

Climb the tallest sand dune in the area Mt. Baldhead – only 282 steps to the top! <map>

Saugatuck State Park, approximately 5 miles from Saugatuck, offers nature trails where you can hike to Lake Michigan, and picnic areas. <map>

If golfing is on the top of your “to do” list check out Clearbrook 269-857-2000, the Ravines 269-857-1616 or West Shore 269-857-2500.

Tour the S.S. Keewatin ($) 269-857-2107, one of the last Great Lakes steam powered passenger vessels, which is moored in Douglas.

If you’re interested in local history, visit the Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Museum (no charge, donations appreciated). <map>

For a little more action, take the Saugatuck Dune Rides 269-857-2253 ($) for a 40 minute scenic/narrated ride through Lake Michigan’s scenic sand dunes – great fun for all ages! <map>

Want to shop, go antiquing, or gallery stroll? The Saugatuck/Douglas area has many unusual and unique shops to browse through, and over 20 art galleries/studio’s, including Oxbow Summer School of Art.

Less than 15 minutes away is Fenn Valley Winery ($) 269-543-2396 offering self-guided tours, video and wine tasting, and Crane’s Orchard’s 269-561-2297 offers fresh fruit in season, and their restaurant serves a light fare and scrumptious desserts.

The Lake Michigan Maritime Museum ($) 269-637-8078 is located in downtown South Haven, only 20 minutes south of us.

15 minutes north of Saugatuck is Holland offering Craig’s Cruisers, Dutch Village, Holland Outlet Mall, Hope Repertory Theatre, Veldheer’s Gardens & Wooden Shoe and Delft Factory and Windmill Island for your entertainment.
